Hosting Your First Thanksgiving
Gather Your Supplies
The first step in hosting your first Thanksgiving is to make sure you have all the supplies you need. Stock up on all the staples such as butter, flour, sugar, and spices. You will also want to make sure you have enough plates, utensils, and glasses for all your guests. Don’t forget to buy a turkey of course!
Plan It Out
Planning ahead is key to a successful Thanksgiving. Make a list of all the dishes you want to make and make sure you have enough ingredients for each. Also, make sure you plan out how long each dish will take to cook, so you can coordinate cooking times. Finally, decide who will do what in the kitchen and assign tasks accordingly.
Set the Table
Take time to set the table the night before. This will give you more time to focus on cooking the day of. Make sure you have enough place settings and napkins for everyone and choose a centerpiece that will make your table festive. Don’t forget to light some candles to set the mood.
Prepare the Food
The day of, make sure you have enough time to prepare all the food. Get up early and make sure everything is prepped and ready to go. If you’ve planned it out correctly, the cooking should go smoothly and you will have plenty of time to enjoy your guests!
Enjoy the Day
Once all the food is cooked and ready, it’s time to enjoy the day! Gather around the table, say a few words of thanks, and dig in. Enjoy the company of your family and friends, and don’t forget to take lots of photos to capture the memories.
Clean Up
Once everyone has had their fill, it’s time to clean up. Make sure all dishes are washed and put away, and all surfaces are wiped down. Don’t forget to throw away any leftovers and put the food away in the refrigerator. Taking a few minutes to clean up now will make it much easier to relax later.
